Muscle Shoals Music Association

Originating from Muscle Shoals Alabama, the music scene dates back to the late 60’s. Legacy artists such as The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Joe Cocker and Cat Stephens recorded hit songs in the original studio. As time went on, the studio moved elsewhere in Alabama and the legacy continued. I was sought out by the Muscle Shoals Music Association (MSMA) to create a logo, some new branding ideas and a new online presence.

Homepage

The proposed homepage design features a long, story-telling approach which tells the MSMA story as well as reinforces the main navigation along the way. The overall goal was to create an online experience that looked indicative of the 70’s with modern usability. A deeper dive into clever interactions and animation will take place once production begins.

Mobile

Mockups were based on responsive design with a standard, collapsing grid. Once content becomes more concrete, a design system will be created for easier, ongoing updates.

Branding

The logo was created with a heavy nod to the 70’s. The “MSMA badge” was created as a design element to be used when shortening the name of the association or use cases such as social media or other instances which a smaller icon is appropriate. The added distressed effect lends to the vintage feel for select branding elements.
